About the Army Fitness Test (AFT)
On June 1, 2025, the Army transitioned from the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) to the Army Fitness Test (AFT) as the official test of record.
The AFT streamlined testing logistics by eliminating the Standing Power Throw event, standardizing the test to 5 core events with a maximum composite score of 500 points:
- 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL): Tests muscular power and spinal resilience.
- Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP): Tests upper body muscular endurance and pressing power.
- Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC): Tests high-intensity anaerobic conditioning and work capacity.
- Plank (PLK): Evaluates isometric abdominal stability and core endurance.
- 2-Mile Run (2MR): Evaluates aerobic cardiovascular conditioning.
Passing Criteria by Military Occupational Specialty
To achieve a passing score on the AFT, every Soldier must score a minimum of 60 points in each event. Additionally:
- Combat Specialties: Requires a minimum aggregate score of 350 points on a sex-neutral, age-normed scoring scale.
- Combat Enabling Specialties: Requires a minimum aggregate score of 300 points on sex- and age-normed scoring scales.
